Rob Throckmorton drummer (Member since 2005)
Rob Throckmorton joined The Four Townsmen as the band’s drummer in 2005. Rob
has been playing as long as he can remember – this is what happens when your father is a drummer and there are always
sticks and drums around the house. After high school, he continued to play in the U.S. Army Band, where he regularly
traveled and played military parades and ceremonies. He played for and met VIPs ranging from General Schwarzkopf to
members of Congress, and played for military events including balls, parades, military graduations, recruiting concerts, jazz
cocktail bands, big bands, show bands, and for events as large and exciting as the Talladega 500, to name a few. In
a strange twist, Rob took a bit of a drum sabbatical when he went to college, and then went back into the Army, but this time
as a Field Artillery Officer. You can see how it might be difficult to play the drums inside of a howitzer. Apparently
he has a fondness for things that go boom. Finally in a funny chain of events that happened in the spring of ‘06,
John ,the 4T bass player, called Rob to get the phone number of Rob’s father about the 4T drum chair. Dad called
Rob back to tell him that “John might be calling you back about a job.” Well, the rest is history, and Rob
is happy to have received that fateful call. The motto is ‘once a drummer, always a drummer,’ and Rob is
glad to be back in the saddle again, while laying down the beat for The Four Townsmen. Rob and his wife, three children,
and two dogs live in McMurray.

sons, Joe and Bill. Ray has been playing guitar for nearly 40 years and he played in a number of bands while living in
New York. Most recently, he has been the guitarist and vocalist for The Basements. “I consider myself pretty lucky to
be joining this outfit. I owe some thanks to Vic & Tim down at Guitar Gallery for recommending me as Tom’s replacement.
I look forward to contributing all I can to making the next 50 years just as successful and enjoyable for everyone….
